In April 2025 I was selected as a guest artist for the magazine “Skialper”, a historic point of reference for the vertical outdoor community. For the APRÈS-SKI column I designed ten icons, reasoning on the concept of the skills needed to move in the mountains that we humans try to replicate in the form of objects and technology, and that the animal kingdom has developed over thousands of years of evolution. You will therefore find 5 ibex that exactly represent: BALANCE (elegance on the vertical) ACCLIMATION (accustomed to low temperatures and high altitudes) SENSITIVITY (interpretation of the sounds of nature, to atmospheric and weather rhythms and signals) POWER (energy to climb and survive in hostile terrain) ORIENTATION (ability to find the track and move, to know the territory). Every animal ability has its corresponding human artefact, which makes us skilled and prepared in difficult places, and highlights our fragilities, the skills we have lost as a species or those never acquired but compensated for by human intelligence.
